Ayoka Lucas is an innovative fashion stylist, freelance editor, visual director and style consultant based in NYC. As a former fashion and beauty director for EBONY Magazine, Ayoka contributed to the style direction of the fashion and beauty pages, digital style platforms and celebrity cover shoots including Chance The Rapper and Russell Westbrook. Early in her career she worked as a weekly night life and social scene contributor for Charleston City Paper and held the role of style director for three regional publications operated by Gulfstream Communications, contributing to fashion spreads, Style Files, home décor features, bridal style tips, street style pages and more. As the former creative director and the visionary behind Charleston Fashion Week, she has contributed to the success of spotlighting the local fashion community and the city as a premier shopping and style destination as well as cultivated support and mentorship for emerging talent that spans the entire East Coast. Lucas’ work credits include editorial, commercial, television and film. In addition, she hosted a five-year radio segment called Fashion Friday on the award winning 2 Girls and A Guy morning show as well as penned numerous style blogs contributing to both local and national media sites including Essence Magazine and Blogging Project Runway while serving as a contributing fashion correspondent on Charleston’s ABC News 4’s Lowcountry Live, NBC WCBD News 2, CBS Live 5 News and WTAT-TV FOX24 with features on MTV News and ESPN.
